Long Beach police announced today they have arrested a total of 58 people in connection with looting during episodes of civil unrest dating back to late May.
That represents 13 more arrests since the Long Beach Police Department updated the public Oct. 28 on its search for suspects in the looting and vandalism that occurred during May 31 demonstrations that followed the in- custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and more recent episodes of civil unrest, police said.
The arrestees range in age from 18 to 44, with many in their 20s, residing in Long Beach, Signal Hill, Carson, Hawthorne, Compton, Huntington Park and Los Angeles, police said. Bail amounts were between $20,000 and $125,000.
A total of 79 additional cases were submitted to the District Attorney’s Office by the city prosecutor, police said.
The LBPD formed a Looting Task Force on June 1 and set up an online evidence portal that tipsters could use to submit photos and videos of
suspected vandals and looters.
