Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach has begun operations for three new Mobile Community Vaccine Clinics to provide COVID-19 vaccine in areas of Long Beach that saw the highest case rates during the past year. These three mobile vaccine clinics do not require appointments and are open to residents and workers in Long Beach who are 16 years and older.
“Our mobile clinics allow us to bring the vaccine out and into the community, especially to areas most impacted by the pandemic,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “These additional mobile vaccination clinics is one of the many ways we are ensuring equitable vaccine distribution here in Long Beach.”
Each of the mobile vaccination clinic locations will have the capacity to provide up to 200 walk-up appointments each day, based on vaccine availability. In the event all walk-up appointments are taken on a particular day, people will be provided with information on alternative mobile vaccination sites or offered a future appointment.
The mobile clinics will take place at the following parks until further notice:
- Admiral Kidd Park, 2125 Santa Fe Ave.; Mondays 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursdays 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- MacArthur Park, 1321 E Anaheim St.; Tuesdays 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and Fridays 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.; Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Community clinics such as these offer direct opportunities to vaccination services for those who may not have access to make online appointments or who lack the resources to get to a mass vaccination clinic. As part of the City’s commitment to provide equitable vaccine distribution, the Health Department began conducting small, community-based vaccine clinics and later launched two mobile vehicles to vaccinate people in neighborhoods hardest hit by COVID to reduce the effects of the virus.
All residents, and those who work in Long Beach, ages 16 and older who prefer to schedule a vaccination appointment in advance, may visit My Turn, the State’s online COVID-19 vaccine notification and appointment system or by calling 833.422.4255.
Walk-up appointments are also available for eligible residents at the Long Beach Convention Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Based on supply availability, approximately 500 appointments will be available each day; if all walk-up appointments for that day are taken, people will be offered a future appointment. People without appointments should follow signs for walk-up, which is ADA accessible.
As of April 23, there have been 52,777 COVID-19 cases in Long Beach and 928 people have died from the virus. More than 283,244 vaccines have been administered, which includes approximately 171,800 first doses and 111,380 second doses.
