On Jan. 28, 2021 at approximately 5:25 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of East 7th Street, which lead to a male adult victim being critically injured.
Through an extensive investigation, Robbery Detectives determined a male adult suspect was responsible for a series of incidents in the early morning hours of Jan. 28, 2021, including the following:
- At approximately 3:30 a.m., detectives believe the suspect attempted a commercial burglary at a business in the 700 block of Redondo Avenue. The suspect was not successful and fled on foot prior to officersโ arrival. No injuries were reported.
- At approximately 3:40 a.m., officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Redondo Avenue regarding an attempted carjacking that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim who stated he was pumping gas when a male adult suspect approached him, brandished a firearm, and demanded his vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot prior to officersโ arrival. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
- At approximately 5:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 3200 block of East 7th Street regarding the report of a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Detectives believe the suspect entered and robbed the business, which escalated into the suspect shooting the victim. The suspect then fled the scene on foot prior to officersโ arrival. The victim, who is an employee of the business, was transported by Long Beach Fire to a local hospital in critical condition.
On Feb. 2, 2021, detectives arrested 34-year-old Frank Porras of Long Beach, who has been booked for attempted murder, attempt robbery in the second degree, attempt carjacking, robbery in the second degree, and criminal threats. Bail is set at $1,050,000.
